QUESTION: How can you cure insomnia?
Well insomnia may be caused by lots of factors. Some are stress, jet lag or some underlying medical or psychiatric condition.
Some say the cure for insomnia are a prescription of sleeping pills. But you have to go to your doctor for a prescription. And also, it’s better to get checked by your doctor to know what caused your insomnia. :)
For the meantime, here are some tips to help you sleep:
- drink warm milk 30 minutes before going to bed
- Do not drink soda, coffee, energy drink and other caffeinated beverages 1-2 hours before going to sleep
- Wear comfortable clothes and adjust your air conditioning or heater to make an atmosphere conducive to sleeping.
- Avoid too much noise in the room.
- Try using scented candles (Love these. haha. I feel like I’m in a spa. But remember to keep it in a safe place and away from flammable objects)
- Try using minimal lighting if you sleep with a night light.
- Take a bath before going to sleep. It helps relax your body.
- Try to empty your mind of worries before going to sleep. Stress may be the thing that’s causing your difficulty
- Try establishing a routine and sleeping at the same time everyday. This will kinda teach or train your body clock about your sleeping time.
- Avoid drinking too much water or fluids at night—> to avoid going to the bathroom and disrupting your sleep. :)
How to remove or lessen eyebags:
- Place a cucumber over your eyes—> (Oh come on, we all saw it in the movies) Haha.
- After you drank tea, don’t throw away the used tea bags. When they aren’t hot enough, you can place this over your eyes for 30 mins or more. (I saw this in the TV last week and I tried it. It really worked. So this tip is based on personal experience)
- If all else fails, use an eye cream and concealer. LOL. This is the last resort. Haha
If your insomnia is severe and that you are already getting sick because of lack of sleep, please do consult your doctor. For now, all I can give is advice on help in sleeping. :)
